| Soundtrack for feature film Black Forest |
18.01.2010 |
|
Germany's favourite forest, which until now preened itself with its idyllic old-world landscapes, is now scene of the bloody "playing fields" for film producer Christian Drewing’s thriller "Black Forest" which is sponsored by MFG Baden-Württemberg. The film starts as a light-hearted trip to the mountains but ends in a dark, threatening climax.
The film score: The Stuttgart music agency SCORBE pitched for production of the score and won against several competitors.
Andreas Adler and SCORBE CEO Johannes Matz convinced the film producers with a musical concept which underlines the psychological drama of the film.
The duo has accomplished a dramatic soundscape with a mixture of big screen sounds à la Hollywood, melancholy and mystical notes as well as the cheerful sounds of country and pop.

| I’m off ... |
17.03.2009 |
|
... to the sunshine state of California to realise yet another dream.
Off to the GDC in San Francisco to attend a whole lot of lectures, panels and roundtables, to cross the Golden Gate Bridge on foot, drive down Highway 1 to Los Angeles and gaze down on the city from the observatory.
I won’t bother with the customary photo in front of the Hollywood sign ... ... but I do hope to be able to present some nice snapshots of the GDC on this website next month!
*** What else has been going on? The Game Audio International Network, currently numbering 25 international game audio experts, has been set up. More soon ...
*** What else? Going to compose my first soundtrack for a feature-length film. More about that soon too...
*** What else? New music: for the 'Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks' corporate film, which newsletter subscribers can watch in the showroom. All non-subscribers will just have to imagine the film while listening to the mp3:
ECONIC PROMOTIONAL FILM (mp3, length 3:03)
And here’s some more combat music from one of my earlier projects for a touch of the fighting spirit:
COMBAT MEDLEY (mp3, length 4:09)
Enjoy!

| About the creative hurdles involved in film scoring |
21.01.2008 |
|
There is hardly any other name so synonymous with contemporary film music as that of composer Hans Zimmer. Since his studio Media Ventures/Remote Control has existed Zimmer has given a number of aspiring German composers the opportunity to gain experience by working on his Hollywood productions, among them Christian Halten from Ludwigsburg.
Halten's workshop as part of the International Film Festival Braunschweig provided detailed insights into the work performed in Hans Zimmer's studio complex.
My report about this event was published recently in the "Rundbrief" newspaper and is recommended reading for those who are especially interested in film music.
